威尔金斯本人为雕像揭幕，在发布会现场菲利普球馆内不仅有一座金光闪闪的雕像，还有一个大大的21号，象征着威尔金斯的老鹰21号球衣，号码上还印有威尔金斯传奇般生涯所获得的精彩数据。
