美国彩票机构人员表示，自佐治亚州一名女子今年1月拿走7200万美元奖金，“超级百万大奖”奖池不断累积，已至创纪录的6.4亿美元。这一彩票在42个州发售，全美人民近日在疯狂抢购。但按美联社的说法，中大奖几率为1.76亿分之一，甚至要大大低于被雷电击中的概率。; K4 c# E( Z- X+ w! i0 U. A8 K
除了彩民，不少地方官员紧盯彩票，想着中奖者不菲的纳税额。
) a- i, Y" _# [罗得岛州议会众议院财政委员会主席埃利奥梅洛说：“如果一名罗得岛人中奖，那就太好了。”按照罗得岛州法律，彩票中奖者税率可为5.99%，意味着“超级百万大奖”中奖者最高可纳税大约2300万美元。有了这笔“收入”，州ZF可轻松解决一个住房项目所需2500万美元投入，或首次全额发放一项中小学教育资助金。罗得岛州财政缺口大约2200万美元。
