据葡萄牙《晨邮报》的一份民意调查显示，尽管三成以上的民众相信葡萄牙队能打入世界杯决赛，但对世界杯前景持悲观态度的葡萄牙人也不少，达到了19.3%。他们认为葡萄牙小组都出不了线，6月25日对巴西的第3场小组赛后就会打道回府。相同比例的葡萄牙人认为球队能出线，但1/8决赛会遇到西班牙，这几乎等于世界杯之路就走到了尽头。另有13%的人认为葡萄牙队本届世界杯也能像上届德国世界杯那样打入半决赛。
