很多人没有足够的赌本，但又期望有高回报，例如我们香港的赌客，要计算旅费的开支等等，最少期望每一场有大约$1,000利润，那该要多少本金呢? 很多小赌客拿$2,000 - $3,000去赌，往往未赢够$1,000就倒输到清袋离场，在计划利润前有没有好好想清楚这个利润额需要多少本金才安全呢? 这些人赢一次半次不成问题，但有过一次以小博大的经验就足以让人的价值观扭曲，以為每次都可以以小博大，之后往往令负追的数目越来越大，越输越多，最后更不能自拔。
