; l9 Z- J, f t! h6 R+ W Erik Seidel出生于纽约。Erik在20世纪70年代也就是他17-18岁的时候开始专心于西洋棋并能靠这个赚取日常花费。他进入布鲁克林大学，在拿到学位之后计划找一个“真正的”工作，但是有时“真正的”工作是令人腻烦的。西洋棋就让他忙碌起来，他非常喜欢参加锦标赛。后来Erik被朋友介绍去做股票贸易。
